Party and State always care for elderly, says Deputy Prime Minister
14/05/2014Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held a reception in Hanoi on May 11 for a delegation of elderly people from Tam Ky city, Quang Ngai province, who were on a visit to the capital.
At the reception, the Deputy PM reaffirmed that Party and State always paid great attention to the elderly and have designed favourable policies and procedures for the elderly, such as those relating to health insurance, discount tickets to public transport and fees to tourist sites.
He expressed his hope that the senior citizens in Tam Ky city and around the country in general will increase their participation in local and national movements and social organisations, in order to make further contributions to their families, living areas, and the country.
Delegates at the reception expressed their thanks for the Government official for the warm welcome and briefing on the operation of the city’s elderly association in past years.
They also pledged to promote their role in encouraging descendants to abide by the Party's guidelines and State policies and laws, build cultural lifestyle in their community, and contribute to national development.
